Who we are
We are a Leeds-based consultancy that helps businesses run better. Our work spans strategy, operations, risk, project delivery and performance — but every engagement shares one characteristic: we are brought in to improve something measurable, and we hold ourselves to that measure.
The firm was founded on a simple observation: most business problems announce themselves long before they become crises, in slipping margins, recurring delays, avoidable rework and decisions postponed. Our role is to help clients read those signals early and act on them, calmly and cost-effectively.

Client work at The Proactive Group is led by senior practitioners, not handed down to juniors after the pitch.

Advice worth paying for is advice you can act on
Consulting has a reputation problem: long documents, borrowed slides and recommendations that quietly assume unlimited budget. We built this firm to be the opposite of that.
Our philosophy rests on three commitments. First, understand before advising — we do not arrive with the answer pre-written. Second, be proportionate — the right solution for a twelve-person business is rarely the one designed for a corporation. Third, stay until it works — advice that is not implemented has no value, so implementation is part of the job, not an optional extra.

Company history
Our story so far
- 2017
The Proactive Group Limited is incorporated on 5 December as a private limited company in England, established to provide straightforward business consulting to organisations in Yorkshire and beyond.
- 2018–2019
The firm builds its early client base through operational reviews and hands-on improvement work, developing the diagnostic method that still underpins every engagement today.
- 2020–2021
Like our clients, we adapt. Remote delivery becomes a core capability, and the firm supports businesses through a period of exceptional uncertainty with pragmatic risk and continuity planning.
- 2022–2024
Service lines in risk management, performance optimisation and corporate advisory are formalised, and the industry focus broadens to the eight sectors we serve today.
- Today
From our registered office at Hawthorne Court in Morley, Leeds, we continue to do what we set out to do in 2017: help businesses act early, decide well and improve for good.
